The A 2711 MP3 add on module for Phase 5 mixers (models A 4275 and A 4285) provides in an built music source for your public address system. It features SD card and USB stick audio file playback with CD player style track controls. The unit is capable of playing back MP3, WAV and WMA files for background music, promotional messaging etc.
Installing the unit is a fairly easy process which can be done on site by the installer or even end user. However, it is one of the only times you will ever have to lift the lid on the Phase 5 so the first step is to unbolt it from the rack (if you haven’t already done so).
Step-by-step.
Step 1. Make sure the amplifier is turned off and unplugged from the power and unscrew the lid.
Step 2. Unscrew the front cover piece from the front panel, retaining the screws. You’ll need these to screw the A 2711 in later.
Step 3. Locate header inside the front of the amplifier. See the photo below.
Step 4. Push the header cable from the A 2711 MP3 module through the front panel and connect it to the 5 way header on the front board of the mixer, see photo below. Ensure the orientation of the plug matches the photo shown.
Step 5. Screw the module in using the four screws retained earlier from removing the blanking panel.
Step 6. Refit the lid and secure with screws, plug it in and turn it on!
Once fitted if music is playing from the module, it will override the rear input 6. The output level is adjustable using the volume 6 knob on the front of the amp. If another music source is connected to the “music input” on the front of the amplifier, it will override both this module and rear input source 6.
This module also features a power button. This means you can switch the module off if playback is not required. It also means that when the amplifier is powered up, the A 2711 will need to be powered on separately. The A 2711 is switched on and off by holding the power button for 2-3 seconds.
